What Does Blu Eye Actually Detect When Emergency Services Are Nearby?

This is one of the key advantages of Blu Eye. A police car, ambulance, fire engine or other vehicle using the Airwave network does not need to be within your line of sight for Blu Eye to alert you.

An emergency service vehicle could be behind you, further along your route, around a corner or hidden from view by buildings or other traffic. When active TETRA/Airwave communication takes place and the signal is detected within range, Blu Eye alerts you to that activity.

This gives you something your eyes cannot always provide: additional awareness of activity in your surroundings.

What Do the Colours Mean?

Blu Eye visually displays the strength of the detected signal. As the signal becomes stronger, the indication on the display changes accordingly. This gives you an impression of the strength of the detected radio activity while driving.

Importantly, Blu Eye does not identify individual users or provide the exact location of an emergency service vehicle. It simply alerts you to the presence of active TETRA/Airwave communication.

Greater Awareness of What’s Happening Around You

In this photo, the likely reason for the alert quickly becomes visible. But an emergency service vehicle could just as easily be behind you, approaching from around a corner, hidden by other traffic or difficult to spot in the dark. Blu Eye can alert you to active TETRA/Airwave communication before you can see where it is coming from.

Because what’s happening around you isn’t always within your line of sight.
